How Gen-Y and Z are Killing Legacy Media
People usually fall into one of two camps.
They’re either curious or they’re not.
Most folks consume whatever is most convenient.
They might only listen to top 40 music, listen to whatever is on the radio, and watch whatever TV show everyone else is already talking about.
You won’t find them at a vintage record store collecting vinyl or reading books on the esoteric.
And that’s okay.
I too have enjoyed countless hours of mainstream entertainment (I will never tire of Mahoney’s antics in Police Academy I).
But there’s a second type of person.
They tend to shun and often detest anything mainstream.
They might listen to acid jazz, deep house, or even melodic death metal from Gothenburg (ok, that’s just me).
They have no time for Love Island or The Bachelor.
These people have a high bar when it comes to content, and they look for content that they not only enjoy but can build an identity around.
When they find something they like, they’re all-in.
Let’s call these people fanatics.
